Javad 35 watt radio range

I'd carefully open that LS, remove the battery packs, and STUDY those wires, going to the "Internal" Antenna. Those big bars on the back, are the antennas, I'm told.
A crimped wire, or broken wire, or such, could be contributing. (I am not assuming liability, for your gear) but it is still what I'd do.

I probably would try!
I fixed my old legacy e units, replacing the "keep alive" button battery. It had to be soldered. Very low heat solder, and don't get anything but surface heat into it.
If it's a kinked wire, you could be fixed, in 20 min.

I got a replay email yesterday that there isn't a thing wrong with my radio... This bums me out. After almost $800 just to find that my poor performance is something else. I did notice last week that my little battery was only at 9-10v after a full night's charge. I'm gonna resolve that issue first and double-check my radio settings in the LS. I just don't know why this unit will not perform like the others I have used?

I'm very sorry if I gave you a bum steer.
I Thot......
I'll start a whole thread on batteries, cables, and performance later
Haha. Not at all. The bum steer was my local radio guy... I'm going to try to see him again and take more time to see what he was looking at. I am going to hook it up in a good location with good voltage and drive.

Follow up on this. Although I have used the UHF radio to connect with the T2 base since original purchase, the radio connection is not working at all so we finally tried using RTN from our state DOT network via cell phone for data connection. This has worked quite well despite the expected limitations in cell phone reception in some areas.
Very disappointed to not be able to work with the base anymore as I think that provides better results, but perhaps it is for the best as we are not limited to base location placement.

Did you explicitly tell it to use the external radio in base rover setup? It's in the uhf parameters.

Just to be sure, you need to set it to external before connecting.

Tap on the UHF panel on the left

tap base connection setup

tap and change radio to external, then connect bluetooth to the base

Ok, will try this as we always set the external from the communications button at the top right of the action screen. Maybe an update or something changed the way it works or in this case, doesn't.

They are 2 different things. Setting the external antenna on the communications icon is for the LS itself. What I described above is the new procedure for telling the base to use internal or external radio.

Got a mifi to provide data from RTN. Now the LS is getting lousy satellite reception. Can't get a decent position in the wide open.
Seems like this unit is falling apart from the inside. Maybe it's a lemon.

Bill, did you try what Adam posted above for uhf? In his screen shot where it says "base radio internal" that is a clickable button. Yours may say internal or auto, click on it and change to external. If you already tried that I would recommend you set up a support session with developers if you have somewhere you can plug in chargers and leave equipment on. I'm attaching instructions. email to: Vladimir Zhukov <v.zhukov@javad.com>
Need a separate session to investigate mifi.

Like I said above, does this make any sense to choose this option in base/rover as this would appear to be setting up use of an external antenna on the base and our base (T2) does not have an antenna.
On my LS this screen does not include this setting for base radio. Is that due to the base I am using or due to the version of firmware on my LS?

JUst tried to use the unit with base radio, apparently no connection at all.
Then tried to use it with mifi for connection to RTN. Worked at first, but now can not get a fix at all.
Will try to connect for remote support tomorrow as this is completely useless now.

Can you put it on RAMS? I will take a look.
