JAVAD GNSS Firmware

Hi Mark,
The TLS+ software / firmware, in the most current release version, are stable and work very well for RTK/RTPK static survey operations that everyone is using.

Are bug fixes even being worked on? A few years ago updates/improvements were being released almost weekly. Now for the past couple years, there has not been a SINGLE update. Hard not feel like JAVAD has abandoned the LS/LS+ for the T3NR in hopes of boosted sales. Sad because the LS is the backbone of the entire surveyors lineup and is the flagship unit. We can only hope that one day they will realize their only chance of surviving is to continue improvement of the LS.

Hi Josh,
May I ask what additional improvements are required for JFIELD ?

Modem problem: I don't understand why it accesses the internet once every 10 attempts (I don't touch anything, I only restart ls and after 8 restarts it connected) I'm attaching a sequence (each photo is a reboot, the 8th ok, the 9th again no)

You’re spot on Josh. That ship sailed quite a while ago I’m afraid. Basically everyone who was involved with the LS/LS+ are gone and any improvements and bug fixes went with them. All of us users of the LS are basically at the “use it til it breaks” stage now. what we got is what we got.

Untrue statement. JAVAD still supports JFIELD and does provide updates for users - see pre-release and notes.

John,
How about a SCALE function? J-Field is the only survey software I have ever seen that doesn't contain a simple point scale function.

Also, there are numerous bugs that haven't been fixed. Many of them aren't show-stopping but they do effect the overall user experience and require work arounds. We as surveyors are JAVADS very best asset. We eat, breathe, and live this software. There was a time that the overall atmosphere at JAVAD was to be the very best in the world and a lot of that came from direct access to development. That atmosphere feels long gone. I cant help but feel the same Darren in that regard. Sadly, I am afraid to continue to invest in JAVAD although I do firmly believe its the best unit on the planet.

Thank you for your efforts to keep the ball rolling John.

Josh,
Can you not use the create an adjusted grid-to-ground coordinate system to accomplish this ?

I'd like to be able to scale coords too.
I USE grid to ground, or grid to local all the time.
But, to be able to Rotate, Scale, and Translate, in the field, real fast and easy is useful.
OF course, we have Rotate, and Translate, (Needs a bit of refinement, but it works). Scale is ANOTHER function, just as needed as Rotate and Translate.
Personally, I'd LOVE to have a REVERSE localize in the LS, so that I can bring some coords in, and conform them to an existing SPC.
But, lets get scale coords first.
Nate

Will the LS+ ever be able to use the T1M+ as a uhf base without crashing? See my previous post a few days, ago or is the T1M+ just a boat anchor? Unfortunately I feel like Josh and Darren.

John,
I am not referring to Grid to Ground scaling. I do use ground scaling. But I mean the ability to scale design points. We have many other uses for a scale function. Any chance we could ever get that?

I'm not a complainer by nature, but do you wanna know what sold me on Javad over all the other competitors? It was a small community where the sales guys were also end users and we had direct access to the engineers/developers here on this forum! I bought in late 2017 or early 2018 and it was AWESOME to get on this very forum and request updates and many of them happen over night or within a week! The developers were so engaged and wanted to help us and used to brag about it! You could tell they were stoked about the LS product!

That is all gone since the war over there interrupted things and Dr. Ashjaee died. He was even chiming in on the features we were asking for and giving directions to his engineers! It was SO great! I don't know why things have changed over there, but I don't brag about Javad like I used to...

Kudos to @John Rosco and the support team who have been very helpful on my past two repairs. I'm not gonna dog anyone who has no control over their environment. Also, the regulars on here who are very helpful and make themselves available... you know who you are. I do wish, like the others here, that we could get some of that old treatment back.

Hopeful for steps in the right direction regarding this.

Features I wish worked or were installed:
  • simple Bluetooth to laptop connection for transferring data
  • voice recognition commands, i.e. "stakeout C13" or "start trajectory"
  • something to protect the dang antennas - or new antenna type to reduce hang-ups
  • Fix the UHF radio so it will reach comparable distances with other units
  • I do wish the total station like unit would have made it so i could avoid using my robot and other software
  • newer model that's lighter with newer battery tech and way fewer hard buttons and bigger, brighter screen
