Well, I have been owning this equipment long enough, to figure out that I want a setting that will let me do alot. Kind of a default setting.
So, what I often use, is:
3 engines/3 engines Verify, with reset on.
25 confidence
25 consistency
60 epochs
120 seconds.
(Those using the general version, can substitute 600 epochs)
The way I use this is:
For a boundary point, out in the open, With distractions, and the like, it can run the whole 120 seconds.
Often, with this setting, I stop it at 120-200 epochs. If there are any obstructions, I press reset 2 times. Minor obstructions, that is.
If there are more obstructions, I let it run the whole 2+ minutes. If there are heavy obstructions, then I do it 2x. And, they agree by 0.05' of better, all the time.
Of course, I do other things, but this is a GOOD CORE setting. One that will get things solid, and not with a bad fix. Or, as they say, a non ambiguous Initialization.
When using this setting, for stakeout, I'd prefer that the "Compass swing freely" after coming to the end of the shot. So, if it says Go N49E 1.22', I can point the LS at the proper bearing, and set the marker. Then, (as is good practice) move up, on the SET monument, and re shoot it. Sometimes you have to beat the monument in, and move rocks etc.
What setting is your sort of DEFAULT setting?
With the above setting, you can quickly shoot a C/L, and stop it after 20 epochs, when there is 100% sky.
