Like you said the purpose is more to stop an opportunistic snatch-and-run creep. Have you noticed how the base plate is attached to the T2? I could defeat your cable lock with a phillips screwdriver pretty quickly if I wanted to ;)

True about the screwdriver, but trying to manipulate those screws while the unit is attached to the top of a 2-meter tripod might prove to be frustrating. I'll check tomorrow to see if there's enough slack in the cable to allow the unit to be removed from the tripod while locked.

I agree about the deterrent value of any lock, though -- if the item isn't easy and quick to grab, a lot of thieves will look elsewhere for their booty.

You are right I think. The specs for the Triumph LS state the enclosure is magnesium alloy. I assume the Triumph 2 is the same. Magnesium is very lightweight so that is probably why it was used.

Okay, by now I'm sure that Jim Frame is the only ProMark 2 user on this forum to recognize this modification since he pioneered it. This 12v adapter screwed to the back of the field bracket. The drilled hole through it was made to allow the external antenna's connector to pass and enter into the back of the PM2 receiver. This mod then allowed the battery life on the PM2s to be extended significantly.

And if you didn't choose your drill size carefully, you'd hose the power connection, as the embedded wires run very close to the center of the adapter.

We tried it once and cut the internal wires accidentally rendering the bracket useless. We had other long endurance receivers so we gave up on the idea.

The other inherent danger was in the wall of the drilled out hole where potential risk could arise of making unwanted contact with the antenna's connector and the power supply if it were exposed; it was always a very zen thing drilling out the hole.
