2 or 5 Hz Base Transmission

You'll need ModemVU, available as a download from the main Javad site. Download the instructions, too (I don't remember if they're in the ModemVU zip file or not), and don't ignore the instruction to run ModemVU as Administrator -- I banged my head against that particular wall for about half an hour before finally paying attention.

You'll also need to download the latest firmware (though it sounds like you'll want to wait until they fix the shutoff bug first).

Once you get ModemVU talking to your radio, updating the firmware is pretty straightforward.
Jim, I could not find any instructions in the zip file. Do you know where else they may be?

Also, it is a bit counter intuitive, but you will need the JAVAD USB drivers, so install them. Then connect your radio with the cable, but don't select the USB option, it is a USB cable but a serial connection, so just check your device manager to make sure what COM port the radio shows up connected to, then just select that COM port, and the computer should connect to the radio.
Toivo, where are the Javad USB drivers located?

I powered down the radio and unhooked everything, then hooked and powered back up, went into modemVU and it updated.

What is the com port # for the hpt35bt?
The port number is determined by your computer, not the radio. In the old days that usually meant COM1 or COM2, but with the advent of virtual ports things got more complicated, especially when USB is involved.

That is actually my video.

Check to see if the RTK rate is set to 0.2 Sec. in Setup>Advanced>RTK/DPGS>RTK Rate. If you used Base/Rover setup it should have been automatically set to this. Also check that you have the 10 Hz RTK and Recording options in the Options Update screen:

Matt,
May be a stupid question, but on the Options Update Screen, why are some text green and others grey?

OK, I am trying to get all the way up and running... My base radio, is a 35 watt one. I ran it all day today, at 5 hz, and at 1/2 watt power. It got awfully hot. And quit. I unplugged it, and plugged in the fan, and re-plugged it in. How much heat is NORMAL at 1/2 watt? I was running all within 1/4 mile of the base. I was doing testing, and experimenting. And, figuring it out. If I recall correctly, I was told I did not need a fan for the 4 watt radio. And, if I did not run the 35 watt one at over some 13 watts (figure is from memory, during sales call) then I did not need a fan. Well, I opted for the fan. All my work from now on, will have the fan running. So I can keep going. At what wattage level should the fan be plugged in? Thanks!

It's about like a 2" or 1.75" computer fan. Also, It often is NOT fixed on any engine, for 3 mins, in areas where I would think it should be fixed. I think I there is something wrong with the radio.

Were you seeing 100% link quality? Also everyone please update to the latest GNSS firmware that was released today. It fixes a bug that was found.

The link quality is the percentage that is shown in this box:

Two things:
1. Yesterday the development team released an important new GNSS firmware release that improves the way the six engines are compared. This improvement will have a direct impact on fixes in marginal environments.

2. At times the LS may not fix at its normal fast pace. Use the reset tracking button in the V6 engine screen. This will often correct the problem.

If link quality is good, and the correction latency is good (button is green), communications are not likely to be an issue.
