Base File Transfer

This may be the same thing that happened to us last week Jim. Our T1M had filled up its memory. We had to hook it up through net view and delete all the files in the base. What's done this is the files since the release of 2.0 have been 30x bigger, one second intervals instead of 30 seconds. Once we cleared out the memory in the base everything went back to normal. Will most likely have to look into getting a bigger sd card or something for the base.

I've had my T1M for less than a month and noticed mine was about half full last week. I was thinking the same thing, I need to get a bigger SD card.

On another note, I discovered I could delete the files through my Carlson collector last week. A bit easier and convenient in the field. I'd like to be able to do that from the LS too...is it possible? I'm guessing Javad mobile tools will allow you to manage files. I've purchased and downloaded it to my phone but haven't tried it out yet.

I had put how to do this in the Quick Start Guide:

Thanks Matt, I'd heard that was available but hadn't found where to find it.
Shawn and Kelly were talking about recording interval on another thread. Would there be any downside to changing both the base and the rover recording interval to 2, 10 or even back to 30 second intervals to control file size a bit?
If I only used/want raw data processed on points I've occupied for longer than 15 minutes, then would 30 second intervals work?

I'm not sure how much reducing the recording rate will hurt longer observations. I've always prefered to use 1Hz data in bad locations but it is probably something that should be tested. Storage memory is pretty cheap now so I don't worry about the large file sizes too much. I got an offer in the mail recently for a free 32 GB flash drive, SD card or micro SD card from a local computer store.

I just sent to support. Thanks Michael!
Thank you Jim for the project. I did some fixes in the JField due to the project.
By some reason in the project the base point has a small file size (1.2 MB). I suppose it should be bigger. This is another problem the reason of which I don't know now.
With the fixed version of the JField I have processed your task. Post-Processing failed because of the small emount of the base data.
Please check the new Release version 2.0.0.310.

Jim, could you check the base file size on the base receiver. Is it also has 1.2 MB size?
You can use or JField "Manage Base Files" screen in Base/Rover setup or NetView.
Using NetView you also can check the amount of free memory in the receiver.

Hi Michael,

The base file is 11 MB. I have re-downloaded several times with the same result. I just noticed that there is another new version of J-Field 2.0.0.313; will this version effect post processing?

No, in the 2.0.0.313 there are only fixes related to localization.
Did you try to download through DPOS screen -> "Download" button (now downloading using "Manage Base Files" screen will not attach the downloaded file to a point).
At the moment I don't understand why the base file in the project you sent is 1.2 MB.

Shall I try and download the file from the base to my PC and send that to you? Is there a way to download to my pc and import to the LS?

Do I need to delete the file from the LS first? Otherwise there is no download button from the DPOS page.

UPDATE: I DELETED POINT 3080 AND THE FILE PROCESSED PROPERLY.

Yes, you are right. First you have to delete the base file. I din't try but deleting from Files -> Collected with Points should work.
Later I will fix the possibility to attach a file downloaded through the "Manage Base Files" screen to a point.

Hi Michael,

See my last post above. I deleted point 3080 and it processed properly. I am happy to continue the diagnostics process and try downloading per your instructions if you need the information however; I don't need that point and am happy with the results. Please let me know if you would like to continue.

Thanks for your help!

I noticed my the thermometer of storage used in my VS data is indicating about 30% (with only a half of year's work), and with these 30X larger base files and PPK rover shots, I too am concerned. I agree with Matt in that SD memory is pretty cheap now a days, so if I wanted to upgrade the SD card, is there a neat and clean way of migrating to a bigger SD card?

What I mean by "neat and clean" is a step-by-step procedure so I do not end up missing any hidden files or misplacing/losing any protected files, etc? I just don't want end up with an expensive ashtray. :(

And, can you recommend a brand, and type?
And, maybe a series of tests to run on it, before installing?
I know memory sticks for cameras vary, and fast reliable cards are very necessary, for fast pic storage, and to reduce time between shots.
Maybe a top dollar, and quality camera card?
Maybe the advice of a camera buff? Or from a camera forum?
