Point numbering

H#ll, I don't know

Right...

Set one of the white boxes in the stake screen to "Accept As". Then, when you take the shot on your stake, if you are ready to store it, press the "Accept As" white box instead of the normal green "Accept" button. Then you can name it whatever you want. If you press Accept, then J-Field gets to name it, and J-Field is going to name a Design point the next point name. This design point is going to be perfectly on line between your two points. Then it's going to store (inside the design point) a survey point where you actually were. When you export, it's going to export the design point and the survey point of the design point. It's going to look at your export settings and it will append the Design point name with either STK_ or it will add a numeric value (default is 1000). In this case, you have it set to use the text default STK_. You can keep using it this way, just set it to export the surveyed point with a numeric prefix (like 1000) and then you'll have the perfect point 34 and the surveyed point 1034. Or you can use the Accept As button I described above and get just the survey point which will be 34 but you won't have the designed perfect point. Works how you want. Good luck.

I looked at the text file you attached. You used Accept which stores both the design and survey coordinates for the point you are staking and that is why you see both. You choose to export all the different type of points:

If you would have unchecked Design Points you would not see these points in the exported file.

You also had export options configured like this it appears:

EXPORT-CSV-FORMAT_20151113-17.49.49.png

You are exporting all the point attributes which is why you see the additional information in the description. The Alignment, Station and Offset are being stored as attributes:

If I could highlight text, I would be able to selectively delete part of it, instead of all of it, as Clr forces me to.

I would also be able to replace part of it, and the Ins key could also be replaced.
If I could highlight text and/or position the cursor by tapping in the text box, I could more easily edit an existing entry. It would require fewer taps and be more intuitive.

Since I could insert the cursor where I want it with one tap, you could replace the < and > keys with something more useful.

The data entry would be like every other touch screen I have, making the learning curve shallower, reducing frustration, and increasing productivity.

I'm glad to see the renewed focus on improving the data entry and user interface. The Triumph LS is an amazingly capable machine and getting better all the time.

You already can tap the text and put the cursor where you want. Please try it and let me know if you see it. We also put < and > key for those that have thick gloves and use the hard keys.

On the subject of keyboard, I use Memory Save (MS) and Memory Recall (MR) a lot. Do you guys use it? Like it?

Yes, I can tap to position the cursor. I would like to be able to select part or all of the entered text by dragging, and select a word by double tapping. Maybe that is coming with the overtype mode that is coming soon.

I am starting to like the MS, MR function.

Before going to the job site (in the comfort of office or home) you can save most of what you need and recall them in the field. We plan to make it 7x4, instead of the current 7x3 to have more choices.

Thanks for your guidance and encouragements. Please keep them coming.

Hi John. We will work on it. But tell me, are you using TRIUMPH-LS to write novels?! (kidding!)

In today's Development version the first version of "long touch" in keyboard is planned. We can remove the "# + =" button, at least for the English keyboard, if we see no objection. So, keyboard will have only one screen (and MS, MR feature).
Five other features will be added soon. Stay tuned.

In today's version only the first row on long touch is implemented. Much more will come later.

When I tried this Long Click Time option did not appear to apply to the keyboard:

I would like it to apply so that with the Short setting a long click takes about 1/2 a second.

There are many items that are not finished yet. Wait to the end of this week for Keyboard related items to be done.

It might be good to add a button that will delete text ahead of the cursor. The language button could be removed to add this:

A long click of the backspace or forward delete button could also have the additional functionality of clearing all the text behind or in front of the cursor.
