The "To Do" list for the LS

Thanks Matt.
As a convenience item, then it would be nice to simply add the button, so that it is just a little more intuitive. (Make it faster for the new user, less tech support)

I'll be using Prt Screen. I did not know that it would ATTACH them, to the point being surveyed.

Something I have been begging for, is a BUTTON on the inverse screen, After the inverse has been performed, to make a MID point between the points being inversed. I know, there are work arounds, but I work in the PLSS. And, it would be very nice to have.

Here's another screen where I'd like to see a stake button.

CoGo > Stakes > Divide Line
00229_Divide_Line_20161013-15.16.14.png

I tell it endpoints and segment length or number of points, and it pops up this Results Info box. It would be nice if there was a Stake button next to that blue OK button. More than likely, the next thing I'm going to want to do is stake the result.

And if I had divided the line into 50-foot segments instead of dividing it at the midpoint, it would be slick to have a Stake All button to stake them in sequence, with the ability to easily reverse the order if I'm at the wrong end of the line.

Getting ready to map utilities for local city water dept. The current attribute list is very basic. My next request is: Can this be updated to a more industry standard? Example: MH - Unit type, Cover Condition, Surface Cover, Cover type, Ring diameter, Evidence of Surcharge, Steps, Rehabbed, Wall Construction, Bench Channel Construction, Cone Construction, comments..etc. That's just one example and it doesn't get into the size, type, depth, direction of each invert in and outs. Some answers are yes/no. Some answers are from a list: Brick, Conc, Glass, other. Something to where we can setup if the answer is numeric or alpha, yes or no, or add a list of options. Also be able to export a header file if needed to tell cadd department which value goes where when importing.

Philip here is my attribute list for sanitary sewer manholes. I use to do a lot of this type work for municipalities. I agree, more attributes would be welcomed by users who do a lot of engineering type projects.

I don't know how hard this would be, but could there be a way to import third party code and attribute databases into the LS so it wouldn't have to be done manually? For instance, a Trimble data dictionary (.ddf) file?

Codes can currently be imported from txt files. The header line of the text file defines the fields for codes. I attached an example that would import codes of IPF and Stone.

I'm wondering. Would it be possible to allow the USER to DISABLE the GREEN "Save" button, during stakeout, only allowing "Accept As"?
It could be just a small switch, on the setup screen, or a check box on the collect action screen profile.

I was at the end of a long day, clients were distracting me, and I am CONDITIONED to hit the GREEN button in the SE corner of the screen, during COLLECT.
I pressed it, and had to re do the observation. I needed that coord for immediate use.

Disabling that button, would PREVENT inadvertent use of that button. And, IF a user LIKED, they can simply turn it on again. It would make this issue more "User friendly".
Thank you,
Nate

Nate, as soon as the new release is available (it probably will happen this week), you will go Home -> Stake -> Quick Setup (bottom center button with profile name on it) -> Stop with... (top right button) -> Accept As New Point checkbox. It will change Accept green button to Accept As permanently. After that, you can remove the "Accept As" whitebox and add an "Accept" white box to still have an option of accepting without new point, or can dismiss these whiteboxes and leave the green Accept As as the only option. This was implemented two months ago, just didn't get its way to the release yet.

I think we could combine the CTT ARROW, and the CTT azimuth, into one button. The button could be a ghost, that is light green, or light red, and superimposed on top of the azimuth. This would be good, because the white box buttons are "Prime real estate".

Also, the DTT white box button, (Distance to target) could (at the white box SELECT screen) ALSO get a LONG press, and from that long press, could have more options.
Such as:
Chains
Meters
Miles
US feet
Int feet
I often use stakeout in reverse, to search, for corners. often 2-3 or 5-6 miles away, from the point being staked. Chains and links here would be nice.
Just thinking...

The long press action for white boxes is already in use and used to change the white box to a different option.

When is the attribute list going to be useful. Still having to hand enter each field. Being able to select a numerical value or a predetermined item on a list like in Carlson, TDS, Survey Controller, or Micro Survey is the industry norm. Only addition that has been done is the attribute list being expanded. When or is there going to be an update to this feature? This is still not user friendly for a user that is going to purchase the LS solely for GIS collection.
