The "To Do" list for the LS

Being able to select a numerical value or a predetermined item on a list like in Carlson, TDS, Survey Controller, or Micro Survey is the industry norm.

The attributes have always been able to be selected from a list but it was recently improved. Now instead of a list format, they are show in white boxes. This has been done since December. You can recall a stored value by tapping one of the white boxes with a value, enter a value to be stored by tapping an empty box, enter a value that won't be stored with the "Edit by Keyboard" option, or always open the keyboard by default with the "Keyboard entry by default" option checked.

As I sit here editing all my coding errors on the LS screen, I'm thinking it would be a dream come true to have screen mirroring of the unit on my 24" monitors, and be able to use mouse and keyboard to navigate the software. That would reduce the need for a separate desktop software (like Trimble Business Center) and I can use the same interface I'm familiar with in the field. The J-Field software is pretty awesome, and I don't know why it wouldn't work as a desktop version, just mirrored from the receiver.

I don't know how the logistics would work, but ideally, I could plug in the unit to my computer, and the J-Field screen pops up and I'm seeing the same thing as I would on the LS screen, but I'm using my mouse and keyboard to navigate menus instead of screen clicking, and absolutely flying through the interface.

Wow! That's incredible and I didn't know it existed. Pretty much exactly what I described, minus the keyboard support. This wasn't listed on the website under "Software", but probably should be because it's a huge deal. Thanks!

This is not super high priority, but...

Another thing that would really be nice, would be a "Bucket Number". I take my LS to lots of places. Once it gets BEYOND 6 "Buckets" or groups, I cannot tell how many buckets it has going. (Too hard to count clicks). I'd like it if it simply had a NUMBER of Buckets counter.
So that I can come back, and look at the raw file, (or while it's working) (PDF output) and say: "The first shot used only 4 buckets, the second took 14, and the 3rd used 3..." this way we can keep track of how hard it struggled to get a particular shot.
Thank you,

Nate
