How would one check to see if their T2 firmware version is the newest? I hooked it up to Netview & Modem and the firmware it installed (via the "update firmware" button) is 3.6.11 (May 31, 2017), but I don't know if that's the most current.

You need to install the "Latest version" in Netview & Modem which is 3.7.2. Also you can view which board you have with it too.

Right, but how can I be sure that what it's installing is the newest? The reason I ask is that it installed a firmware dated May 31, but I thought with this base movement update, there would be a newer version available. For example, the image you posted shows August 31. If my board is also 2_6, shouldn't I have the August version?

Sorry, I misread your post. "Latest" version, not "Stable" version.

It would be helpful I think if there was a way to check for base updates without hooking it up. Like maybe an email notification when a new version is available, or even just a website that lists all the current/stable versions that are available.

Can someone post a flowchart we can follow to determine whether or not to update firmware in the T2 and the LS? I'm leery of loading a non-stable version, especially if my T2 is too old to benefit from the new features.

For Base Guard to work you need to have a T2 with a board version 4 or greater. This can be determined in Netview:

index.php

The last number in the highlighted board version is the board number, so 6 in this example.

Does the new stable release of J- Field offer any features or bug fixes that will benefit those of us with older T2s, or should I just skip it?

Likewise, just tried the fix in my yard and it appears to be operating as it should. I did notice a possible new bug though...when I was in collect screen I have a user button set to real time inverse to last shot, when I click on it it takes me to a cluster averaging screen, not sure why and don't think it hurts me, but just noticed it. Is it supposed to do this?

I also think there is a possible bug still in the T2 update keeping me from operating it as a TCP base. Have not been able to get this going yet....

For my part I am impressed with the teams turn around but not calling it overnight yet. I lost Friday, Saturday, and maybe today in the field.......:(o_O

This was something Nate requested, see https://support.javad.com/index.php?threads/a-javad-dream-place.2095/#post-18382

Did you have it working before the update as a TCP base?

yes. I have used the T2 as a TCP quite frequently, depending on the job. Used to work a lot in Arizona last year...not so much since January but have set it up time to time to make sure it is ready...

(I'm away from the office until late tomorrow, so if I seem even more clueless than usual is because I'm reading about this on my phone.)

So if those of us with old T2s update our LS units to the current stable firmware, can we expect our existing radio and TCP setups to function, or can we count on something breaking? Or should we skip this update entirely?

Jim. It appears to be working with the radio now. I was seeing the TCP thing as a sidebar because I attempted to use it to get "some RTK" during the out.

What process should be followed, e.g.:

1. Update T2 firmware.
2. Clear T2 NVRAM.
3. Update LS firmware.
4. Uncheck base monitoring.

Or something else?
